Helping in the Race to Rebuild is a new group of Christian Motorsports enthusiasts. Chip Rumis is a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Top Comp drag racer. Also helping is Pastor Ken Owen (who founded the organization Racers for Christ (RFC). Chip and Pastor Owen have now begun soliciting racers through out the United States to be either a donor or volunteer in the rebuilding efforts of Adopt-A-Church.

Since the birth of “Race to Rebuild” in September 2005, many racers have stepped up and offered assistance. Randy Hagerty, an NHRA Pro Mod drag racer from Arizona and President and CEO of Pro-Tech Motorsports, a nationally known trucking firm, stepped to the front and delivered the first shipment of roofing supplies to a battered and beaten church in Hattiesburg/Petal, MS on October 8, 2005.

Ray Cordeiro, President of the Southern California Pro Gas Association and his wife Kitty and his company, Pacific Acoustic North Inc. donated funds. Jack Derencin, President of Southern California Super Comp Association and his company J. D. R. Products donated much need funds.  Jess Nelson, a NHRA Top Comp racer from Arizona, contributed part of his race winnings to this cause and former racer, Bob Mendenhall has been instrumental in acquiring many of the materials and tools that are needed and still hard to find in the Gulf area.

Paul Neighbors, President of Christian Motorsports International and Racers for Christ “Team RFC” have all stepped up and donated money, resources and manpower to help in rebuilding Mississippi after last years Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf coast.

Numerous companies and organizations (in and out of racing) are partnering together to help accomplish this challenging task.
